It’s that time of the year again when everyone has a fresh start to work towards a better future. We want to help set you up for an awesome 2021 and beyond. Let’s jump in and start with how you can create achievable goals for 2021 that will keep you moving forward throughout the year.

Creating Achievable Goals For 2021 That You Can Accomplish Weekly And Daily

While it’s good to think about the year as a whole, I’m of the mindset that your daily and weekly goals have a much larger impact on your future. When we have an annual goal, it’s easier to push taking action off until the last part of the year. Let’s break down goals into tasks that can be achieved in a day or a week. Here’s an example of a personal goal of mine.

In 2021, I want to purchase a new rental property. The following outlines how I would set weekly goals to try and achieve this overall goal for 2021. I would break these weekly tasks. From there, I would create even smaller tasks that I would put into my daily calendar.

Check out how we turned our first home into our first investment property How We Bought Our First Investment Property.

Week 1

1.  Start looking at what markets I’m interested in to purchase real estate.
2.  Put together my criteria for the property. (single-family 3 bedroom 2 bathroom in a B class neighborhood)
3.  Look at my options for funding the purchase of the property.

Week 2

1.  Begin reaching out and building my team. I would need at least a real estate agent and lender.
2.  Send my criteria to my agent and start getting properties sent to my inbox.
3.  Begin analyzing deals sent to me from my agent to understand what areas and properties work for my investing strategy.

Week 3

1.  Get preapproved by the lender so that I know what my budget is for the new property.
2.  Continue analyzing deals. This is super important so I’ll roll this task over every week and possibly every day.
3. Nail down how I intend to fund the purchase.

Week 4

1.  Continue analyzing deals. At this point, I should be able to find deals that fit my criteria.
2.  Begin working with my agent to send offers on properties that I would like to purchase.
3.  Repeat sending offers every week until I receive an approved offer.

This is a somewhat scaled-down example of the overall process to purchase real estate. As you can see, there’s a ton of smaller tasks that I need to accomplish to achieve my overall goal. Identifying these daily and weekly tasks and taking action is what will help you hit the mark quickly. This example shows a month’s worth of weekly goals.

Even if you spread this process out over 3 months, you will still have 75% of the year left to work towards more goals.

How To Keep Yourself On Track To Meet Your Weekly Goals For 2021

I’m a huge fan of putting everything in my calendar. Use your calendar to structure every day so that you are able to block out time to work towards meeting daily and weekly goals. I’ve noticed that if something isn’t on my calendar or tracked as a task, it’s not going to get done. Live my your calendar to help you knock out all of your tasks.

I use rolling daily tasks for my smaller tasks that can be accomplished every day. If I can’t get to one of those tasks, I roll it over to the next day until it’s completed. It’s ok if you don’t get everything done. It’s more important that you are taking action and continue to move forward on meeting your goals!

I personally use a google calendar. The google calendar is nice because I can quickly access my calendar and get a good picture of my entire day. This also allows me to view the tasks that I want to accomplish on that particular day.

Try to find an accountability partner. This could be a friend, spouse, or coworker that has similar goals to your own. For instance, if you want to lose weight, schedule time on your calendar where you and a friend go to the gym together.

Don’t Overwhelm Yourself With Too Many Goals

It’s really easy to think about all of the things that you want to accomplish in the coming year. It can become super stressful and overwhelming if you overload yourself. It can be easy to give up or slow your actions when you feel like the odds are stacked against you.

Try to create 3 or fewer goals that you can work towards. Continue to create small and medium-sized tasks that you can accomplish every day and week. Think about how you can take action daily to accomplish your larger goals.

Now Go kick Some Butt And Accomplish Those Goals For 2021

Continue to take action and make progress. Do what you say and you will start to see the results. Don’t get discouraged if you aren’t hitting your daily and weekly tasks. Remember to keep rolling over everything that doesn’t get done. Even if you only accomplish 50% of your goals, you will still be making massive progress towards your future self.

It’s really important to take time for yourself and reflect on your actions and goals. I like to take long weekends every few months and go play in the mountains as a reward for working hard and hitting my goals.
